I earn $93 per month with these apps with very little time.
That is almost $1200 a year.
Read the end of this post to see how much I make from each app.
The magic is in combining these apps.
I suggest you sign up for all apps in this post.
Most have sign up bonuses, so follow instructions.
Like everything else we review, you won’t get rich or be able to quit your day job with receipt scanning apps.
You can make some extra cash though again.
I think most people can make $100 per month with minimal time.
Could you use an extra $100 per month?
Make sure you are comfortable with any privacy permissions.
Companies make money from marketing.
Do not overspend.
Many companies count on consumers to spend above their means.
These are the nine most popular apps that most people should sign up for.
Again, the magic is in combining them.
If I only used one app, I would get $5-20 per month instead of $93.
Use our links to sign up, so we get the credit.
Since most apps takes minutes per week, it is easy to combine with minimal time.

Ibotta is one of the highest paying apps with the average person getting $200 per year.
Amount earned: $10-$50 per month. People with families earn more. If you shop for one, you will earn $10-$20 per month like me.

You get “kicks” for scanning receipts, but most money is earned by walking into stores or scanning products in stores.
if you love shopping, you will love Shopkick.
It is like getting paid for window shopping.
I average an easy $720 per year ($60 per month).

Receipt Hog gives you coins for scanning grocery and gas station receipts.
You get spins for other receipts like clothing and restaurants. It pays less than the others, but it only takes a minute a week.

It is easy and simple and just minutes per week. It actually is great for keeping track of my spending too.
Money earned: about $5 per month
Time: Few minutes per week
4. Receipt Pal
- Registration Bonus: 250 points, takes 2000 to get $5 gift card
- Join Receipt Pal Now
Receipt Pal is similar to Receipt Hog, except you can scan any receipt.
Each week, you get cards. Initially, you get 5 cards which earn 100 points per card, so 500 points per week. At 2000 points to cash out, you would get $5 if you used all cards in a month.
Later, you only get 3 cards, so it takes 6 weeks to get a $5 gift card. Again, for one minute of time per week, it is an easy $5.
Amount earned: About $5 per month or every 6 weeks
Time: 1 minute a week
5. Checkout 51
- Registration Bonus:
- Join Checkout 51 Now
Checkout 51 is similar to Ibotta. It does not have as many offers, but still quite a lot.
I have cashed out twice with this app and got $40. I have not had time to use it consistently yet, but think everyone should sign up.
You need $20 to cash out.
I just let my cash grow until I have $20. Since I do not consistently use it yet, it is not included in my $83 per month. Most people use it with Ibotta for more cash.
Any app that gives you money for things you would buy anyway is a no brainer. Most people love this app, so use it.
Again, it works well with Ibotta.

Time: minimal
6. Saving Star
- Registration Bonus: None yet
- Join Saving Star Now
Again, like Checkout 51, this is similar to Ibotta.
If you like Ibotta, you will like Saving Star.
It is not as many offers, so it will take longer to reach the $20 cash out for most.
Again, I made a total of $40 here and there. You definitely should sign up and check to see if they have offers you want each week. I find that a lot of the offers with Checkout 51, Saving Star, and Ibotta can be the same, so you can double dip.
For whatever reason, you cannot use the same coupon for Checkout 51 and Saving Star. So no triple dipping. Again, you can double dip with Ibotta though.

If you are like me, couponing never makes it to your to do list.
In the future, I will “experiment” with couponing. I know it can actually save me money. I want to give an honest review for the blog too. Look for the post.
The loyalty and cash back feature of coupons.com works like Ibotta. Again, you can link a loyalty card and get an instant discount on purchase at stores like Walgreens. You can also get cash back with PayPal at stores like Walmart and Target.
Yes, they will actually move a quarter to your PayPal account though most rebates are more.

9. Your favorite grocery app
This was an addition. When you want to save money on groceries, use your favorite grocery app.
Grocery stores vary by location, so each region has a different chain. Chains in the Northeast are different than chains in the Southeast.
Two examples of good grocery apps are Target Cartwheel and the Kroger app.
Your local grocery app whether Safeway or Krogers can usually save you some money. Checkout your favorite grocery store’s weekly sale paper too. You can get them online.
When you combine the top receipt scanning apps, a cash back credit card, and your grocery store app; that is some serious savings.
If you have time for paper couponing, that is even more savings.
