There are a lot of survey sites out there.

Surveys will not be for everyone though.

False advertisements claim you can make hundreds a month with surveys.

Realistically, you should expect a reasonable $20-$50 per month from surveys.

That comes out to $240-$600 per year.

Only you can determine if surveys are worth your time.

You can read the next section to help you make that decision though.

In any case, here are my four favorite sites to start with.

These are the sites I have personally used.

I think this will save you a lot of time and help you make the most money.

Are surveys even worth your time though?

This is the magic question .

I explained how much you can make realistically earlier.

Again, at best, you will make $20-$50 per month.

That is a far cry from the hundreds a month advertised through false advertisements.

That still comes out to $240-$600 a year though.

That sounds good (over a year that is), but an activity is only worthwhile if your time is taken into consideration too.

Is this worth your time?

Averaging $1-$4 per hour, surveys can seem like pennies. 

Many people say their time is not worth this little.

Before you stop reading, know that surveys are like other frugality tactics from spending hours trying to get the best television on Cyber Monday to couponing.

There are good things about surveys too though.

First, if you can give up time watching television or surfing social media here and there, you can make money in your pajamas.

Like I said earlier, $20-$50 per month is $240-$600 a year.

You could have a Christmas fund, or buy an Apple Watch or iPad at the end of the year.

Next, surveys, averaging 10-20 minutes each, can be done in between other activities.

So, though surveys get a bad rap, if you can give up a television show or two, you can make some spare change.

Don’t underestimate spare change either.

So, are surveys for you?

Honestly, it depends.

If you have almost no time in your day to even sleep, then surveys will probably not be for you.

However, if you are the average person, who may lose time to watching television or surfing social media, then surveys may work out well.

We can all agree that too much time watching television or surfing social media is not the optimal use of time.

You don’t have to do surveys everyday either.

Right now, I am inconsistent.

Sometimes, I do a survey and sometimes I don’t for days or weeks.

My plan later is to stick to an unnoticed 1 or 2 surveys a day.

We will see if this works later though.

I find one or two surveys a day is not noticed in my day.

That comes to $20-$50 per month when the highest amount of surveys are picked (like around the equivalent of $1 per survey).

Again, this is not noticed in my day is the key.

Things To Watch Out For With Surveys

If you decide to do surveys, here are things to watch out for:

1. There will be disqualification

Surveys have a high disqualification rate.

Disqualification is when you answer preliminary questions and after minutes wasted, find out that you don’t qualify for the survey.

This means after losing time, you have to keep attempting a survey until you find one you qualify for.

The sites I recommend get you through this faster in my experience, so that should help.

There will still be disqualification though.

This is true of all survey sites though.

2. You will need to guard your time

Surveys can be a waste of time again.

You will need to guard your time if you decide to do surveys.

I have an allotment of time for surveys.

If I go over it and get very little accomplished, I call it a day.

3. You will need to be realistic about how much money you will make

Again, I have done extremes with surveys.

When I first started, I had an experiment to see how much was possible with surveys.

This was when I had time off work.

Basically, with my day being nothing but surveys (and who could survive that), I think I may have gotten $200 in that month.

Again, unless you will be giving up your day job for pennies, at max, I think you can expect $20-50 month.

That is realistic at 1-2 surveys a day which I think is the most anyone can do.

Like the other things we talk about on the blog, these are things to give you spare change, not to quit your day job.

However, $50 from Swagbucks, $20 from Ibotta, $60 from Shopkick, some money from cash back portals, can easily turn into an extra $200-$300 per month.

In any case, be realistic about how much you will make from surveys.

Why You Need To Sign Up For More Than One Site

Some demographics qualify for lots of surveys.

Others qualify for few.

In general, someone who is middle aged will probably qualify for more surveys than someone in their 20s.

To not waste time, and to always have enough surveys, it is best to sign up for more than one site.

I would suggest to sign up for at least two sites.

4 Top Survey Sites

Here are my top 4 survey sites.

I have not tried every survey site out there, but these are the ones I have used.

Most of these sites are big sites that have other activities and lots of surveys, so my ranking at the bottom just means it would not be my first choice (though still a good choice).

1. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is the site I use the most for surveys.

First, Swagbucks is a conglomerate of other sites, so they simply have more surveys than other sites.

Second, (and maybe most important), you can make money doing other things with Swagbucks.

In fact, Swagbucks is the only site that is on every big deal site for things like its Discover program and cashback portal.

A lot of the other things I do on Swagbucks (like Discover offers) pay much more than surveys.

Since I make money from so many other things (and lots more of it than on surveys), I like I can combine all my money at the end of the day with all my other Swagbucks activities.

Again, my plan is to get an unnoticed 1-2 surveys a day in and get an effortless $20-$50 added to my Swagbucks money.

If surveys are all you are into, then Survey Junkie may be for you.

They do nothing but surveys, but they do it well.

For years, this was my preferred site until I started making money with other things on Swagbucks.

You need only $10 to cash out with Survey Junkie.

That is not as good as $5 to cash out on Swagbucks.

It is still better than many other sites that require $20 or more though.

3. My Points

My Points is owned by the same company that owns Swagbucks.

Why is it only number three on my list?

Personally, though you can do the same activities on My Points as on Swagbucks, I actually find their currency not as intuitive.

Also, I usually can get enough surveys from Swagbucks.

Certain demographics that have problems finding surveys, can try this though.

It works as well as Swagbucks.

This ranked at the bottom of my top 4 because you need $30 to cash out.

That is quite a lot.

I actually never finished getting this amount.

Surveys are not for everyone.
