Everyone loves gift cards.
They are like money.
A lot of sites give gift cards for accumulating points.
Not all sites/apps take little effort though.
Like everything we write about, you won’t get rich with these apps.
You can get your $5 or more gift card with little time though.
Here are the four apps I use:
4 Apps That Give You Free Gift Cards With Little Effort
1. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of the easiest sites/apps to get gift cards with.
First, the site has so many ways to get gift cards.
Second, the site has so many gift cards.
A lot of them start at $5.
Here are the ways to get gift cards with Swagbucks:
- Online shopping
- Discover offers
- Surveys
- Watching videos
- Surfing the web

If you build your cash to $25, you can cash out with PayPal.
I usually use Swagbucks gift cards for quick $5 cards to stores like Walmart, Target, or restaurants.
Whenever I am going to get paid big with Swagbucks (like $50 or more), I use PayPal though.
For instance, I just got $50 for hosting for this blog from 5 months ago.
I thought Swagbucks would be quicker.
Later, for my second blog, our sister site, Travel Points 101, I will get $90 from RebatesMe.
I still have not gotten my money, so I might have been right about the time factor.
Swagbucks tends to pay quicker than other cashback portals.
My favorite ways to earn small $5 gift cards at Swagbucks are by doing “Discover Offers,” online shopping , and surveys.
Always use cashbackmonitor.com so you can make the best decision for you when using a cashback portal.

2. Receipt Pal
Receipt Pal is another favorite of mine.
It is very simple which is what I love.
You just take a picture of any receipt.
Then, you are done.
This takes me one to two minutes a week.
That is less time than it takes to watch a commercial.
This is done just once a week.
You get new cards every week.
This gets me a $5 gift card every 6 weeks.
This may seem like a long time to get a $5 gift card, but with the zero time factor, it really is a no brainer.
You can speed it up by referring your friends.
When you first start they will give you $5 gift cards every month.
That is because you get 5 cards in the beginning.
Later, you will only get 3 cards.
Each card is worth 400 points, and you cash out when you reach 2000 points.
Again, for less time than watching a commercial once a week, you get a free gift card.
They generally offer gift cards for Amazon, Walmart, Target, or Starbucks.
These are the popular gift cards that people want.
3. Receipt Hog
Receipt Hog is almost identical to Receipt Pal except you can choose to get paid with PayPal too.
The other two choices are an Amazon gift card or Virtual Visa.
Even though you can get paid with PayPal or a virtual Visa, since it is only $5 a month it seems like the others on this list.
Every week your first 10 receipts accumulate more points.
Don’t neglect “slots” either.
They are fun and extra points.
Receipt Hog only gives points for grocery, gas, or convenience stores.
All your other receipts like restaurants count toward slots.
I generally get a free gift card every month with Receipt Hog.

4. Fetch
Fetch is another favorite for gift cards.
Like the last two, you just snap a picture of your receipt.
If you buy certain name brand products you can get almost all your gift cards just by buying one or two products.
Check the section on featured products to see which products are offering extra points.
This is key.
Featured products can get you between 1000-3000 points.
Since you cash out at 3000 points or $3, this is the main part to pay attention to.
It will work very well if you buy name brand products.
All other receipts are 25 points.
Fetch is only for grocery and convenient stores like Receipt Hog.

Apps I did not include
A lot of the other blogs include apps like Ibotta, Checkout 51, Saving Star, etc.
These are great for getting cash, but require you to build up to $20 to cash out.
I find this different than a quick $5 gift card.
I include these in my receipt scanning apps page here.
Also, read how I make an easy $100 with these here.
Basically, I think of gift cards as something quick and easy that I get $5 with little time.
Apps like Ibotta tend to take me a month to cash out with and take a little more time and effort.
I consider those to be receipt scanning apps instead of apps for gift cards. Again, those apps are how I make an easy extra $100 per month though.
I generally like PayPal instead of gift cards for apps like Ibotta too.

Summary
Everyone loves gift cards.
Everyone loves getting something with little time too.
Things like some survey sites that require $30 to cash out (looking at you Inbox Dollars) are not going to be quick.
If you want to build your money, that is great.
If you just want a quick $5 gift card, try one of the apps above.
These four apps will either get you gift cards every week quickly or will take less time once a week than watching a commercial.
