I need a new Fitbit.
I usually get in about 15,000 steps a day plus other exercise (or did before the pandemic).
One of my other businesses is a health and wellness business.
I usually buy Fitbit’s popular Charge trackers, but after the third one in years broke, I decided it was time to get a smartwatch.
You can see I am not a person who gets into the latest and greatest!
Everyone else had a smartwatch a long time ago.
I have Android, so an Apple Watch won’t do.
So, it was between Fitbit or the Samsung Galaxy watch.
I am used to Fitbit, so I decided to get a Versa 2.
Of course the Versa 2 is cheaper than the newest Galaxy watch made the decision even easier.
The Versa 2 is usually $199, but routinely goes on sale for $149 during most holidays.
This brings me to my first point.
Why would you pay more for electronics when they will be on sale almost every month?
Almost every month has a holiday.
February has Valentine’s Day and President’s Day.
April has Easter.
May has Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.
June has Father’s Day.
July has the Fourth ofJuly.
You see, almost every month has a big holiday.
Top electronics like the iPad and Apple Watch are always on sale during these holidays.
Why would you pay full price, when there is a holiday sale every month again?
I was supposed to get a Fitbit Versa 2 during the last sale, but procrastinated.
Procrastination, by the way, is not a bad idea when buying electronics.
You need to take serious time before you make a purchase.
Your purchase will be at least $100.
Electronics is not my subject, so maybe there are items that you want that are not always on sale.
I mean I don’t buy hundreds of tech gear every year.
I just have a smartphone, tablet, laptop, and now smartwatch.
Some people get into all kinds of tech products.
So since I am into just the basics, everything I am interested in goes on sale each month.
So buy your electronics during holiday sales
No one should pay full price for anything when they can get it for less.
If an item you want is not on sale as often, track it so you know the pattern for a while.
You can even google the last couple month sales to see the pattern.
Again, electronics should require serious and long consideration before a purchase anyway.
You will spend at least a $100 again.

Don’t pay full price for anything when you don’t have to.
Other suggestions to save on Electronics
Here are some other ways to save on electronics:
1. Keep your electronics for as long as possible
I bought my MacBook Pro in 2014.
That is 6 years ago.
As long as it is working, I will keep it.
Apple products are top of the line.
They last a long time.
Why would I need the latest and greatest when my top of the line product works fine?
The new MacBooks look the same as mine aesthetically too.
2. Buy an older model
When the newer model comes out, buy the older model.
It will usually be cheaper.
3. Buy refurbished
Some refurbished items are restored to be as good as new.
Since refurbished means different things, do your homework.
4. Use shopping portals, codes, and coupons
You should not shop online without using a shopping portal.
You are leaving money on the table.
Just by going through a portal, you get some extra cash on a purchase you would make anyway.
There are also codes and coupons.
Try a site like Honey.
5. Use loyalty programs and reward credit cards
Loyalty programs like Kohl’s reward shoppers.
You should also use a reward credit card with your purchase.
These do require that you pay your balance in full each month though.
6. Use discounted gift cards
I saw someone use discounted gift cards to save hundreds on a electronic purchase.
Keep in mind that you may prefer to buy large purchases with a credit card to get the purchase protection though.
7. Do your research
Electronics are a huge purchase so do your research before hand.
Read and watch reviews.
Try them in a store.
Again, basically do your research in every way possible.
Summary
When holidays approach, I see if there is an electronics purchase I need to make, like my Fitbit.
Just a week ago, the Fitbit was $199 everywhere.
In a week, the Fitbit has gone back to $149.
Even in a rush, waiting a week would save me $50 and get the lowest price on Fitbit.
I don’t buy electronics often, but when I do it will be during a holiday sale.
